Friday: Setting the Stage
Preparation Is Key
The excitement begins on Friday, with the setup process being as meticulous as it is essential. Our dedicated team of volunteers and staff works tirelessly to ensure everything is in place for a seamless event.
Activities Include:
- Measuring Stages: Precision is vital, and we meticulously measure each stage to ensure fairness and adherence to GSSF standards.
- Setting Up Targets: A variety of targets are strategically placed, offering a diverse and challenging experience for competitors.
- Moving Plate Racks: These are carefully positioned to create engaging and challenging shooting scenarios.
- Canopy Setup: To provide comfort for our participants and spectators, canopies are erected, offering shade and shelter.
Once the setup is complete, usually by midmorning, we offer an exclusive opportunity for our volunteers. They can choose to run the stages themselves, a perk for their hard work and dedication. This not only serves as a token of appreciation but also as a practical run-through of the event setup.
Saturday and Sunday: The Heart of the Competition
Over the weekend, the match comes to life with participants and spectators converging to witness and partake in the excitement. Our volunteers play a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of the event, with responsibilities including:
- Range Officers/Timers: Ensuring safety and fair play while keeping track of the timing for each competitor.
- Score Keepers: Accurately recording the scores and outcomes of each round.
- Rack Resetters: Efficiently resetting targets and racks to maintain the flow of the competition.
- Stage Assignment Personnel: Managing the flow of competitors to each stage, ensuring a smooth rotation.
- Floaters: These versatile volunteers step in wherever needed.
Sunday: The Grand Finale and Breakdown
Celebrating Success and Wrapping Up
As the competition draws to a close, the atmosphere is one of camaraderie and achievement. Participants and spectators alike share stories, experiences, and congratulate the winners.
Post-Event Breakdown
The event concludes with the breakdown process. This involves:
- Dismantling and storing away targets and plate racks.
- Taking down canopies and ensuring the venue is returned to its pre-event state.
- A final gathering of volunteers and staff to debrief and share feedback for future events.
This process not only marks the end of the event but also lays the groundwork for our next GSSF match.
Each year, our GSSF match stands as a testament to the spirit of the shooting community. Through the dedication of our volunteers and the enthusiasm of our participants, we create an event that’s not just about competition but about fostering a sense of unity and passion for the sport. We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces at our next match, ready to share in this remarkable experience.
